Post colors

i saw a sword that was red but made of steel, i was told it was blued,if that was a bluing proscess then that wold mean there were more colors steel could turn, about how manny colors can occer in steel smithing?

I know the cold bluing solutions can turn shades of blue, purple, browns and black. Not sure how they got red though? Interested to find out

It may have been a variation on the 'browning' process -- this is a somewhat similar process to proper (hot) blueing and is a controlled rusting.

Don't forget there is a veritable rainbow available through temper colours!
