MFC Conference May 24, 25, 2008

The MFC Conference will he held on Memorial Day Weekend, May 24 & 25 at the Ag Museum in Jackson, MS.

Steve Williamson, last years demonstrator will teach a class on making a wolf’s head. This class will run Thursday May 22 and 23.

May 23 is also the evening for our annual wine and cheese party. Bring some of your work to be displayed. This is a ‘do not miss' event for our group, invite your friends and family, this is always a very pleasant evening event.

Lorelei Simms will be our featured demonstrator for this years conference (bio on pg.5) May 24 and 25 and our guest speaker at the wine and cheese party Friday night the 23rd.

Steve Williamson will teach a class on making a wolf’s head. On Thursday and Friday May 22-23.

Schedule:

Thursday May 22– Wolf head class Starts 8:00 am and will last as long as you want to play.

Friday May 23- Wolf head class starts 8:00 am and will finish around 4:00 pm

Friday May 23– Wine and Cheese Party starts at 6:30 pm and will be over at 10:00pm

Saturday May 24– Registration begins at 7:30am with the demonstration starting at 8:30 until lunch at 11:30, sandwiches will be provided to all registered participants. Demonstration continues from about 1:00 pm until 4:30. Dinner at 5:00 pm with the auction beginning as soon as Anthony has eaten.

Saturday May 24– Kaleidoscope class will start at 1:00

After the auction we usually hang around and socialize with our guests. This is one of the parts of the conference that I have really enjoyed.

Sunday May 25– the demonstration begins around 8:30 and will last until Lorelei is ready to leave.

On site there will be several other activities. These include Betsy Lyles—jewelry, Toney Harris— Lampworking, Theresa McIntosh— mosaics, Joe Gilbert—flintknapping and George Berry—Woodcarving

Carol Goodrum will teach the kaleidoscope class on Saturday at 1:00. This class is limited to the first 15 people to register. Carol has been taking and teaching classes in a variety of crafts for many years. She has taken several Kaleidoscope & Stained Glass classes at John C Campbell Folk School. Carol maintains her Kaleidoscope/Glass Studio at her home in AL. She brings a fresh approach & fun filled atmosphere to her classes. She will teach the Secrets & Magic of Kaleidoscopes. You will make your own from PVC & learn the secrets that will allow you to make even more sophisticated ones when you return home. The minimum age for this class is 15 or 12 if assisted by an adult. $15 material fee.

The Conference Registration form is on the web site www.msforgecouncil.com. Pre-registration is encouraged. Print the registration and mail to the MFC post office box. Classes will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Don’t miss out on the classes.
