Question Valve ? + S-7 Die Hardness?

Hi I am new here and I have a question or 2. I am making a air hammer with 2dual acting cylinders. I want both cylinders to be extended when I have no presure on the valve'(s), when I aply pressure to the valve'(s) I want them to both close. Is there a single valve that can get this done or do I need 2 valves, that are 2 position 4 way directional? Will 2 of this e-may item # 190156572291 work? If you know what I mean, and know what I need please post, or pm me.

Also the material for the dies I chose S-7, what hardness should i shoot for?

I should have the steel by the end of the week, and would like to get that valve asap so I can get this wraped up.

Thank you all for your help,

Michael...

Hi Michael,

I can't help you in the least, but I bet there are folks here who will have some ideas. I look forward to following your thread. Thanks for the questions. Your project sounds great. Hope you post some photos of it. Where is Parma?

All the best, Phil

C there are a couple of professional air hammer builders that hang out at forgemagic.com. You may want to ask this question over there.

Thumbs up

I live on the east side of Parma off State south of Snow. A long way from Hawaii (Oahu), I would trade spots in a second, interested?

As far as valves go, I just bought 2 of basicly every kind made that is non- electric. I want to make sure I have what I need when I start. I hope to get the info I need. But if not I'll figure it out.

I will check out forgemagic.com.

I will also post picks.

My design is basicly a ka75.com, but beefed up quiet a bit. It will basicly be the same but centerd in the middle of a four poste linear slide, and both cylinders will drive up and down.

I should have the steel by the end of the week. They are wating actualy for the S-7, so I will pick it up when they have the whole order.

To start I am only making one die set, just flat. I think I will be able to knock out the fab in 6-16 hours, well we'll see. The valving will probably end up being the part that takes the most time.

I can't wait, I love building new things.
