Thanks for the link Dr. Dean. I did some of air arc cutting in school and now have my own arc cutting lead here; attached to a 400 amp Hobart DC welder. The rod size / amp settings from the link will come in handy here, thanks again.

I have broke rail by scoring across the top and some on the sides with a chisel and smacking with a 9 lb. sledge. It will not always break straight but it can be broken.

Thermal lance - Wikipedia

it sound like it would be easy enough to set up. using small dia black pipe.

I did it in diving school underwater habu68 you start with and arc and cut the power off and the lance burns on o2 , Ive seen speciel forces use a back pack rig from a distance at school also. Great tool hard to control.

Unhappy Apologies

I want to first apologize for not putting up any pics of the process. I wanted to and said that I would, but I wasn't allowed to use my phone to take the pics. So please accept my apologies for this. I CAN how ever say that it is finished now and looks pretty good if I do say so myself lol . Here is a pic of the finished product. There are a couple of things, however, that I should have and would have done differently now that I look back at how I did some things but it turned out well.

Here's the pics:

All criticism welcome.

I like it a lot. I can't really criticize you since I've never attempted to make an anvil. Only that I might change would be to weld some plates underneath it to add some weight. (Where it is kinda thin). BTW, how much does it weigh?
