Default Price for power hammer please

My husband 'Scot' unfortunatly was killed in an accident last Sep'. I'm going through the difficult task in selling some of his much loved machines in his workshop. Could someone help me in pricing a foot operated mechanical hammer n° 1 Vernet circa 1936. I heard these things are now collectors items & don't want to just give it away. I would be grateful for any advice.
Jen

Jen - Sorry for your loss. Some pictures of the power hammer from different views would help greatly in helping with your request. - JK

Condolences Jen
Are there any members out there in France who may be able to assist?
Not knowing the local situation is a problem, Most powerhammers in the UK would change hands in good condition anywhere in the range of £1200 to £4000 plus Change that to euros and you may have a guide.
Unfortunately they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, so the more coverage you can get the better.

Default will post photos for an Idea of prices

Thanks for all your ideas & kind messages. I'm going to photograph his machines that I feel are of any great value & put them on your gallery inc: a COMAC Léonardo 5H pipe bender 2006, SWAN gas fire 2002, FEIN industrial belt sander 2007, HONDA silent welder on his own fabricated trailer & the VERNET power hammer there is also about a ton of clean steel lying, what is the price of this these days???
He was only 36 when he was killed in Scotland last year. He had begun to accumulate a good collection of tools & machines to fulfil his passion for forging & fabricating (or as he would tell me doing "man stuff"), it breaks my heart to go into his workshop & think about selling his things but as long as I get what they are worth I know it is what he would want me to do.

my condolences

the price of steel would vary with its geographical location as well as the international monetary exchange rates, thus what its worth here wouldn't be of much help. You'd get a better idea from a local steelyard as to the going retail rate per lb\kg for your location. Cold rolled steel which is shiny (with sharp edges if rectangular) generally has a premium price over mild steel which would be grey with mill scale.

Hopefully one of our European members can provide you some spot pricing.

Good Luck

Jen, my heart goes out to you in your lose.
Wish I was closer (read richer $$!! ) as some of the items mentioned would be nice to own. As mentioned above, check with locals for pricing on the steel and once we see pictures of the tools I'm sure there will be plenty of inquiries. I don't see any problem with being able to sell these items.

Having seen several shops where the owners equipment has been destroyed by neglect after their death I have asked my wife to pass on my tools to folks that will use them for what they are meant to be doing!

You are doing the right thing and hopefully his 'shop" can provide a bit of support for you as he would have wanted to do if he was still here.

Be wary of people offering to clean it out for some low price; such scum seem all too common. One widow I know had the local blacksmith's organization auction off her late husband's tools at the annual large conference. You may want to contact a blacksmith or bladesmith's group in France to do likewise.

Hello !
this type of power-hammer is selling between 500 and 1200/1300 euros in France!
Ebay is the better place for selling it!
I don't know if you speak french but you can send me a private message if you have other questions...
