Nice Job! It reminds me of seeing a spear point made by the Massai in Kenya once. They dig a pit, fill it with cow manure, and blow into it through a reed from the side to increase the heat. They use a crude iron from a local river to forge, then hammer out their spear point on a rock. I guess you could say they are 'purists' when it comes to doing it the OLD way! Yours is, of course, much better! I'm curious... the SS on the side...does it stand for Schutzstaffel? Or have you denounced your former Nazi affilliations?!?! *grin*

Haha no nazi relations at all BARF. My mark stands for my name and my business, SS for Sam Salvati, and the mark looks like a bend in the river, my business is River Valley Forge. I think I saw a series of photographs or a video once on an african smith forging spearheads in that fashion, was very cool to watch.

You do realize, of course, that the use of hand-forged steel weapons is specifically forbidden for use in space by United Nations International treaty... Now, if you had assembled a nuclear weapon that would be different! I guess this is one project that must stay earth bound! Glad to hear you've renounced your Nazi past...

My obvious air of authority makes everything I post sound serious. Guess I'm going to have start putting a BS alert on some of them... ( No Nazi relations here either. ) I do like their power hammers though!

You just have to learn to add a smiley icon in there or something is all. I'd rather run this spear 10 through 10 nazis than anything else hehe.

When my youngest son was five he wanted a spear. So I made him one out of rebar. It was about three feet long with a socket on one end and a small leaf blade on the other and a four foot long shaft. You know what my wife said to me when she got home? No? Well you who are married with children will know and you who are not will find out. My kid loved it until my wife took it away from him. Cried for hours. |
