Default sword, KINDA

Here is a sword I kinda threw together, it makes a nice new beater sword, cutting bottles and jugs, wood, branches, logs, hehe whatever. Blade and tang are lawnmower blade, with mild steel guard and 1215 pommel. EWverything is pretty welded solid hehe, not much to go wrong on this one. And yeah, I know it's not pretty.

I like it, Sam. Kinda looks like something Conan would be proud to carry as a backup piece...lol. Very good use of the pre-punched holes as a decorative element. Nice!!!

the shape reminds me a lot of the "master sword" from the Legend of Zelda video games. If you whack off the guard it looks a lot like a gladius; which makes a bit more sense since they were short stabbing swords

Here is a picture of the other side. I hammer rolled the handle, then welded on the guard which I sort of pegged into the handle tube, then filled all the gaps with weld, then welded on the pommel. I wish I had more flap discs, so I could grind everything smooth.

Looks good, I'm new to blacksmithing and to me that looks great. It looks sorta like Frodo's sword in Lord of the Rings.

Thanks! yeah, i was getting that feeling when grinding the profile, and was gonna go with a more leafblade shape like Sting, but then decidded to go with straight edges in a more Conan way hehe.

i dig it. gives me even more confidence to build some blades from lawn mower
scrap.
keep us posted on its effectiveness as a cutting tool.
thanks,
buzz

It cuts great! With almost no edge steepness, it cuts like a knife through just about everything I try to cut.
