Default making tin cups, having problem

I've been doing a little blacksmithing, but now I'm trying my hand at tinsmithing.
I need to make about 8 coffee cups for my chuckwagon. Problem is everytime I cut my bottom out and try to bend the edge over a round mandrel I keep getting little points where the tin won't fatten out. I live in Houston, Texas (mnray@aol.com) Any suggestions?
