Default Cheap Belt Grinder Idler Pulleys

Hi All,

I am building a 2" x 72" belt grinder and cannot seem to find any 2" x 2" wheels anywhere! I have checked all the usual places; McMaster Carr, Grainger, ect; without any luck. Does anybody know of a source I could use?

Thanks in advance,

Chad

Welcome to IFI Hunterbow. I don't know what stores are available in your area, but here in Kentucky we have Tru-Value Hardware stores and Tractor Supply. Both carry an assortment of pulleys in several diameters and shaft sizes.

I recently bought a 2 inch one at Tru- Valu for $4 and change.

Oh, by the way......the pulley I got was a keyed motor shaft pulley.

The idler pulleys might be harder to find than I thought.

Sorry about that! Good luck in your search.

If you are looking for an idler wheel for the belt I got a nice one that is about three inches in diameter with ball bearings that can be greases with a grease gun and replaced when needed total was about $20 from a caster supply store

I used a pair of 1" wide bearings scrounged from an electric motor re-build shop. I ganged two of them side by side to give me a 2" wide idler. See pics at BluePrint 354.

Thanks to Rich and all that replied. I have bribed the machinist at my work to make me a custom set of wheels! It doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks again,

Chad
