Default Risk assessment

I have finally got around to setting up my forge, but the only place I have for a shop is a small chicken shed. It is fairly open to fresh air, but is crampt, so I will be working close to the forge. It is too short for me to use a chimney.

Basically, does it sound like I'm going to gas myself?

i wouldnt even think of forging indoors without a chimney.when i use propane because my shop is small i put it outside .my anvil is close to my double doors so its convenient and i dont overheat.

Why take the risk.
Get a Nighthawk CO gas detector with a digital read out and KNOW if you are gassing your self.
KIDDE 900-0113 Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector & Explosive Gas Alarm AC Plug-in Operated Model KN-COEG-3
Just remember you are only dead once.

sorry personal peeve.

If it is that small a space, move outside. In bad weather put up a shelter, such as a shed roof or plastic tarp.

Why bother? Working in a cramped environment is frustrating. Use it to store or remodel to adapt it. I had to truck my stuff out to the driveway for years cause a coal forge inside a garage gets smokier than a bar on Saturday night.

You asked! “Basically, does it sound like I'm going to gas myself?”
My opinion, YES!
You have a whole life ahead of you, why take a chance of limiting the quality of the rest of your life. I speak from a position of one who did not think about the quality of life for long term living. I am paying the Piper for it now!
I also have a small forge station that I just built. But I have built it with controlling the ventilation in mind.
Put wheels on your forge if you have to. Or save up enough money to do it right.
I say all of that because I do care about you although I don’t know you!!
Be safe!
Old Rusty Ted.
