Hi all, Well, I´m not sure what kind of portable forge you´re looking for, but I´ve got a description on my home page of a forge that is really easy to build using scrap material. To get it portable you just need to add a simple stand for it, which can be designed according to the specific needs. In this design I wanted to hide the electric blower part, since electric fans was not so common during the iron age... Here´s the link: Välkommen - Welcome (haven´t updated it for a very long time, but hope to get around to it soon...) Click on "English version", then Tech Stuff and then "The Körunda Outdoor Forge" to see the details. This design was intended to be used both with bellows and with an electric fan, which I needed when the forge demonstrations got hectic. Hence the dual air intakes... Also, the cost indicated was based on all new parts including a fan and car battery. If using scrap material, the cost would just be a few bucks obviously. This forge has been used a lot, and it is amazing how much forging time I got out of the small electric fan and the car battery. BR Ulf |

Ulf, I had come across your site a year (or maybe two) ago. I really like that forge set-up. I like your iron work as well. Very good job. Don

I was invited to go to Africa (DRC) last June to teach blacksmithing. Part of the challenge was to pack along our own forge in our trunks. We designed it to be easily assembled and be reproduced with locally available scrap wood and junk car parts with minimal tools. Mark |
