Talking mushrooms, and insence burners

hey everyone, one of my kids asked me to make an insence burner,sooo...
the gears got turning and i took some pipe , i believe 1/4" and a fender washer. i drilled some holes in the pipe and made a taper , then chiseled & cuped the washer and welded it to the pipe "stem" it looked ok, but it didn't draft well. any how, does anyone have an idea or plan for mushrooms, and/or
insence burners,(cone, stick, or oil.) looking forward to seeing whats out there. thanks.

all the incense burners I've seen are just a holder for the incense and a place for the ashes to fall. You could flatten the pipe and drill one hole in an end to place the incense stick...put a short scroll on that end just for looks

Thank you John, that was my first attempt at a mushroom,(1/4" pipe & fender washer). the other mushroom was made with 1/2" pipe & a piece of sheet metal 4" dia. the cone incense smoke rises up the stem and rolls out from under the cap. looks cool

have you guys ever seen the incense holder/candle stick made out of a pair of tongs? It may be in the blacksmithing book up for auction on IFI right now.

I like those incense holders very cool

Awesome incense holder Ralphy. You should take a few down to the local head shop to make some cash!

Here's one I did a while back, nothing too special, but it works:

Julian
I believe what you are talking about is a rush lamp
Allthough they can be used for insense they were designed to use bullrushes ( they came about about 200 years ago )
