Default New guy

I know nothing about metalworking or anything related to being a blacksmith but have been curious for some time now. I'm getting ready to leave the Navy and hopefully my next job will give me the time and money to give it a shot. Well, off to go search through the forum and learn something.

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to getting started. The price of anvils makes my eyes want to bleed though.

Akula-Hunter...do I know you? I'm in Oak Harbor when I am on land. Retired out of NOPF. Now riding on the Vicky.

Peddinghaus makes a 44LB anvil for about $400:

Not too sure how big an anvil you were looking for. All good hobbies need to be expensive and time consuming

Thanks for the link. We probably don't know eachother. I never made it to NOPF. The detailer hooked me up and gave me a general billet so I'm on the quarterdeck at the white house.
