Default fitting a handle

Hello everyone, I am trying to make a battleaxe. I started out with the intent of making a tomahawk sized axe but it got a little large and heavy. Could anyone offer some suggestions on mounting it to a handle? The back part will have a point when I am done.

I'm aware of 3 ways to attach a handle to something like this. Bore a hole, drift a hole or lash a split handle on.

If you can provide more detail of what you want to do and pictures from the top and bottom (to see if there is enough room to bore or drift a hole) you'll get better answers.

I use a hammer handle drift to make an eye that will take a regular sledge handle hammer for things like that---we just did a warhammer last Sunday: slit an appropriate sized hole, rough drift open with a bull pin drift, final drift with the hammer handle drift from both sides; done.
