Update ref RPFS

Hello:

as some of you are aware I was NOT at RPFS this last weekend and it looks like I will miss this upcoming one as well. As these things go the rumors have already started and let me quell these now with the facts: I have a blood clot in my left leg that is giving me some problems. I am on bed rest (what ever that meas) and I am NOT to travel for the next week or so due to the fact that there are some remanents of said clot still present. I am on anti-clotting meds (what I not so fondly call rat poison because it basically is) and well in my line of work this isn't the best way to do things but it is standard treatment for these things. The prognosis is excellent but I will be on the meds for the next month or so...

What this means is I am to be good and NOT run around and/or putter about in the studio and I am not to travel and/or drive any great distance until the clot is dissolved. Hence I will NOT be at RPFS this coming weekend but I cannot see a reason why I cannot attend (and get some work done) for the last 3 weekends. So all of you that have written me in regards to books signings and the like, I should be there then..

I am sorry for any problems that this may of caused but even though it's just a blood clot, they can do really nasty things to you if you don't take care of them properly.. So I am more or less listening to my Dr. and doing what I am told..

JPH

get well soon Jim, I had to wear those white support hose for a few days after I had a hernia surgery, can't figure how women can wear panty hose, but if you have too just tell people you are trying out for the Knight in White Tights roll at the community theatre and don't wear shorts.

Well I hope that means you can get a good start on your *NEXT* book!

blood clots are NOT something to take lightly; I had a coworker nearly die from one once and we want you around a long long time!

As for the bleeding around the shop---no problem; just keep a cautery hot in the forge...or perhaps look into the modern high tech battle field dressings that help clotting..

And don't bite any rats it's sure to get you talked about...

Jim, my prayers are with you and a complete recovery. Your last statement is very important, doing what the Doc says!
