Default making bearings

Hi, i just extempore repaired the wheel of a "skottkärra" (don't know the english word for it)

The word is wheelbarrow, a frame or box for conveying a load, supported at one end by a wheel or wheels, and lifted and pushed at the other by two horizontal shafts.

Posting the photo in this case is not a problem as images translate very well between languages. As the image is copyrighted, so I have removed the image and inserted a link.

The bearing was completely worn out (and half of it gone), i put a pipe on the axis, and welded the wheel to the pipe. Not super-smooth, but it is better than it was before when the wheel wobbled like crazy.

I started thinking. It would be Interresting to make roller bearings. It couldn't be super difficult. And it would be a nice thing to try to construct.

(I could have bought a new wheel, but i wanted to try to fix it, mostly because some said there is nothing you can do for it, just buy a new one)

Has anyone had experience constructing bearings?
I don't need the bearings for this project, but someday the knowledge how to make them could come in handy. And it would be fun to just make some bearings and see how they behave.

One of the simplest bearings is a block of hard wood with an axle size hole drilled into it. Then cut the block of wood in half, mount one half securely to the frame, apply grease, insert the axle, more grease, then attach the other half of the block of wood. This type bearing works for slow revolutions such as your wheelbarrow.

You will have to weld the wheel to the axle making it one piece so the wheel and axle turning together, instead of having the bearings inside the wheel, and only the wheel turning.
