Default fire bricks

one of my freind is wanting to know if theres a way to bond fire bricks to the sides of a of a coal stove

Most burners bricks just sit in place. I built coal stoves for 10 years when the fad was high in the 70's - 80's. You can cement them together with high heat cement like for a blast furnace but the average homeowner wouldn't have access to it from an average hardware store...Bob

You should be able to get furnace cement at most local hardware stores, Home Depot, etc. Look in the aisle with the wood stove supplies, stove pipe, ...

The furnace cement I was able to get as my first refractory for my coal forge was only rated to 1200 degrees or so, (Farenheit) I think you'll need to find some specialty cement through the internet.
