Default Drive shafts, what metal?

What type metal is used to make drive shafts? The hollow pipe between the tranny and the differential. Usually with a universal joint on each end.

It would seem there is some good resource material there.

Drive shafts are generally hollow pipe and IIRC Weyger thought them to be high carbon.

Newer ones are mostly alum but the steel ones vary some between manufactuers but 1026 DOM is somewhat comon.
