Default Money?

Hej Karl!
Money? tack sa meka mate! I don't even remember what that stuff is anymore!

I'm doing what I'm doing on little to Zero budget. No sponsership, no wage, no clue, no prayer!

Actually I started with under £5000 and am currently looking at the thin side of under £3000. I tried every trick in the book to travel as cheaply as I could, sleeping in my car, camping out in the woods and mountains, getting washed in streams. Finding food from the wilds, you name it. I rarely stayed in a Hostel unless it was a capital city. If I was extremely lucky I was offered a place to stay by the Smiths I met, but I never forced myself on them or even asked. If they enquired where I was staying I was honest. You remember I slept outside the workshop at Volund in my car when it got well below zero? Luckily for me Karl lodges there and at least I got to sit in the warm until around midnight.

You don't need a massive budget to travel Karl, honestly. The biggest expense for me was petrol, for you it will be air fare and such. It's still do-able. I'd think nothing of hitching a ride around if I could find a Smith with a spare fire in Oz. I've got a working holiday visa for a year, which you could apply for too I think. Like Strine says, pack up your kit and up stumps. Oh and as far as me settling in Oz goes strine, I figured a year would be long enough to see if it was worth coming back in the future to stay
G'day Neighbour!

G'day Ian,

I'll give you twenty minutes  The first question asked of people getting off the plane is "So....how do you like Australia" We can be pretty dumb sometimes. A "country" is mostly the people, with some nice scenery and weather thrown in as icing on the cake.

Do you need directions yet? and can you handle a bit of celtic music as well as coal dust in your ears?

Strine has said it all better than I could.

Personally, I'm not sure of actual blacksmithing *jobs*, barring one or two exceptions, but there's no shortage of work for a backpacker on a work visa.

Well, if you're ever down the left hand side of the country, give us a shout!

P.S. if you ever get the chance, take the train from Sydney to Perth, and count the RR spikes, etc lying trackside along the way )there's a few)
