Default Anvil

I don't know were I would find railroad track and this looks really cheap but it is also very rusty.eBay: Anvil / Small / Rail Track / Japanese / Vintage (item 230047846498 end time Nov-19-06 20:00:00 PST)

Would this work with a little sanding on the top?

If you want to
Personal message me with your address
Ill send you a piece of track at no cost.
this is the bigger rail.
the only stipulation is that you dont have a suitable anvil and that this will help get you started.

nice offer Mike, I like to help folks out when I can also.

Hopefully, this will help elf out.

elf, did you know that piece of rail is in Japan?

Do you know the cost of shipping to America? You're in anvil country back east, it rains those things back there...

Way to go yyear!

I was getting ready to make a similar offer...

You pay for the postal service pre pay box and I'll send you one that's a GENUINE ASO made from RR track. Just waiting to be used...

Elf.
There are several groups in Virginia that you could gain some knowledge from. I am a member of several of them. if you go to Blacksmith Guild of Viriginia - Home and go to the links page you can find a good listing of the ones around. You can also search ABANA for the affiliates, but there are some top notch groups out there who choose not to be affiliated!

yesteryearforge: your generosity has helped out a bunch of new smiths over the past years...cheers to you sir!

Elf,

Tell me where in Winchester you live and I'll loan you my 140 lb anvil through the Winter. With my arm, I won't be using it for a while, so you may as well borrow it. I'll be down that way in the next week or so, and can drop it off.

Default Loud Cheering from the Crowd!

Yesteryearforge and Ladysmith:

That sound you may be hearing is the cheering from the rest of us for your offers to help out Elfshadow.

You are to be commended, as without the passing of knowledge, and loan of equipment, some beginners would never get the chance to try it themselves.

Bravo! Bravo!
