I have to say that I have read this book cover to cover more than 20 times. This book has been great for me. It gave me more than just the basics without overwhelming me with too much metallurgy. While I think there is much more in depth info out there. I think this book is one of the finest beginner and intermediate books around.
If you haven't read this one, do yourself a favor and find a copy.
