Here's my 151 pound Peter Wright. I went with the steel tripod design as you can see. Legs are 2” tube, ¼” wall. Anvil is clamped down with railroad spikes. 1/2" green Treated plywood between the anvil and the base. No ring at all. Just thud.

Hammer rings on both sides.

The lower grate is 3/16” steel. I thought I’d make it with 1” square cutouts so hardie tools will fit in also for storage. Can’t have them laying on their side ya know.

I heard that it’s sometimes usefull to do this for some reason so I thought I’d incorporate this into it too. That’s 1” solid round bar and it fits nice and snug. Can somebody tell me when this is usefull? I’ve heard for upsetting but not sure how or when I'd ever do it.
