Different states do different LLC's. Here in Virginia, it's pretty easy to set-up and it can be owned by one person. Taxes are about the same, you still file a schedule C. The benefit is the separation of your personal assists from the company's and the same for liability. Has to be renewed every year.
Right now, I'm not a LLC for my blacksmithing, I need to get around to it. I was a LLC for a fight club I had. The attorney raised his eyes, but said nothing illegal about a bunch of guys getting together to training and then beating the xxxx out of each other :-)
