Just to add some information about the new knife chat....

I will be your host/pseudo moderator for the knife chat sessions. Glenn and I have been talking about this for a while. I have had the chat on my website, but due to the limited software I use, and the amount of people coming in, using IFI was really a no-brainer. Many Thanks to Glenn for this opportunity!

Most of the rules for the knife chat are the same as for any of the IFI chat sessions, with one minor exception.... I always ask that if you do not use your actual name as your screen name, that you introduce yourself when you enter the chat, and maybe even a little blurb about yourself. This gives everyone an idea of who their speaking with, and in my opinion builds trust and confidence. It will most likely be the folks who have been on my chat for a while introducing themselves to the IFI regulars.

As Glenn said.....everyone is welcome! I started my career as a blacksmith, and after some years I gravitated to the Bladesmithing end of things. There is room for everyrone. For those of you who do not know me. I am a retired military man (22 years in the US Air Force), I have been a blacksmith/bladesmith for close to 25 years. I hold a Mastersmith rating with the American Bladesmith Society, and have taught bladesmithing all over the US, Canada, and Europe. If your not familiar with Bladesmiths in general, I think you'll find that most are very open, and willing to share just about any aspect of what they do. The chat will have folks ranging from beginners to very advanced.......so again, theres room for everyone!

Glenn also mentioned that there may be lingo or terms that are unfamiliar....Please......if something doesn't make sense, ask. The whole point of the chat is to visit with each other and learn.

If you have questions, or need to know just about anything to do with Knives or bladesmithing, its very likely that you will find some answers on the new knife chat!

Look forward to seeing you there on Friday, Feb 1, 2008 at 10pm Eastern, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, and 7pm Pacific!
