Spoke to my welding store guy this morning and bought a tank of argon. I told him his 75% co2/25% argon advice was not good and whatever his source of info, it was wrong. He picked up a slide rule gizmo and then put it down and changed the subject a bit. I let it all slide (no pun intended)and truly hope he is not going to make that recommendation again. I got by this time (hopefully). The gas is definitely inert, but the percentage of co2 is too high to prevent erosion of the tungsten. So I've learned about argon only with tig regardless of materials, about taking salesmen at their word, and about not doing homework before writing the check.

Spent much of the day outta the shop doing computer and paper work. But did work on the 100's stroke adjustment lever, delivered yesterday's machining work, got paid, did banking, yakety-yak.

Many businesses are closed tomorrow. I'll wait until next week before ordering more steel. I'm deivering an Octagon 50 tomorrow.
