With the paint dry I mounted the completed aerofoil lifting eye. The tipped the machine on its side and proceeded to do the cladding on the driver side. Got that done and was starting on the passenger side when a friend stopped by and we gossiped for an hour. By that time we were both cold and we went our separate ways. At home my wife told me...

Fixed the personnel door on the commercial shop first thing. The Iron Kiss sign was loose. Also fixed the inside glass window in the sand blaster so that I could see what I was doing. What an improvement! The cabinet uses at each of the four glove ports two sandwiched glass plates, the inside one is intended to be sacrificial and is held...

I just sold another hammer. Hurray! A 20:1 100. Fortunately I have channels, cladding sheets, and floor and ceiling plates already prepared from about a year ago when I bought a massive amount of steel. That cutting was one of the early jobs done on the HEM-saw horizontal bandsaw. The stuff has been sand blasted and painted. So once I...

Worked all day on the lathe project and got the delivery made and got paid. Feels good. :-) Tomorrow I have to clean up the 220 pounds of shavings. :-(

Started to mount the cabinet to the tower this morning, but then my customer job arrived. I worked at the lathe non-stop for the rest of the day. Tomorrow looks used up also. It is making me some money.

The cabinet frame was ground, sanded, and painted to start my day at the shop. Of course, the day always starts with business paperwork before breakfast. Then the tower was lifted by chain using the forklift as the skyhook and set atop the base plate and bolted. It was then set atop the layout table where I squared the unit to get the plumb and...

Both frames for the 150 were made today, the tower all the way through to sanding and painting. the cabinet just through the welding. Nothing unusual here, just relentless work and staying with proven routines. I use my massive layout table to hold the channels using jigs and clamps held in T-slots to set the square and true stuff. I tack weld...

After the flea market this morning, I loaded the truck with tools for this afternoon's stint at Jerusalem Mill. I really wanted to avoid shop work, but was drawn to set up the components for the 150's tower frame on the layout table. Started the tack welding. At the old mill both of my "apprentices" were there when I arrived...

I continued on with the cleaning, starting at the back of the shop in the walkway areas and sweeping and bagging and toting to the dumpster. Egads what a mess. Finally, I used compressed air to blow dust toward the opened overhead doors. The place was transformed from really ugly to just ugly. :-)

I tested the 200 pound hammer for awhile with...

Took a couple of pictures of the new Jackson welding helmet to my welding store and he will try to find out if the unit shown is in production or just a one-off show piece. He said he thinks all helmet manufacturers are scurrying to deal with fumes arising during stainless steel welding. I get the feeling that their designers are not welders and...
