So tried my hand at making tongs today. I used some of my rebar that I have. I learned a lot from this exercise. The main thing this taught me is hammer control and how to use the edges of my RR track to fuller work to get the shapes I need. With all that said I messed this one up. I didn't draw out enough material to have long enough reigns. I could have continued to draw down but it was getting thin. So next time I will leave plenty of steel to draw when I cut off my blank. All in all I am pleased with what I accomplished even if it didn't come out as planned.

How much starting material did you have, and how much do you think would be enough, considering you said the reins weren't long enough?
