iForge Dev Update: Crossing the Appalachians

Posted by Andrew, 08 February 2010 · 0 views

I Forge Iron Philadelphia Development Invision Board
During the holiday season, I spent several weeks converting I Forge Iron over to a more tightly woven system. The system was originally built in pieces and bridged together, but now each section is in the same land mass. A few weeks after the conversion, we upgraded the blog, gallery, and content management system. And with the generous donations we've received so far, we've integrated a chat.

I've recently moved to Philadelphia.

Some people have wondered why development slowed down, the answer is I was in the process of moving to Philadelphia.

Crossing Appalachia takes time, energy, and effort. And then, a blizzard hit. I survived and will start tackling the problems left over from the rebuild. Secondly, we're pressing forward with the Blueprints and are currently re-organizing the images and folders. This is a precursor to redefining the blueprint presentation itself.

The donations have also allowed us to purchase analytic software allowing us to figure out what sections, pages, need attention or are experiencing problems. We're also very concerned with repairing the any visibility lost during the switch.

In the next round of forum updates, you can expect the following:
  • Improved Facebook Integration
  • Improved Twitter Integration
  • Spiffier Status Updates
  • Spiffier Link Sharing
  • Restructured Notifications
  • Stronger SEO

Once again, thank you for your support of I Forge Iron.

Nice work Andrew and thanks for your efforts. I am sure we all look forward to any future enhancements.

For those who do not know the term SEO it means Search Engine Optimization....
